Mid-Market Morning: Breakfast with Devin Thorpe
I had breakfast with Devin Thorpe who blogs at Mid-Market Maven this morning and immediately liked him tremendously.
Devins the president of Mountain West Capital Network and accomplished singer who recently auditioned for American Idol. It's a tragedy he didn't make the finals but what can you say, those things are so political.
Besides being a broker dealer, Devin's also jumped on the ecommerce bandwagon and is selling his own line of apparel and travel mugs from his Potentially Award Winning CafePress site. (The logo reminds me of Totally Awesome Computers for some reason.) Who made that logo?
Devin's also started a mutual fund looking to make value plays on depressed stocks that have the potential to rebound. Devin described it to me as a way of seeking VC returns with transparency and liquidity. I won't divulge the number he revealed but they've been impressive.
